TRAVELING TO EASTERN EUROPE

This might sound like an odd request.  In fact, I know that it sounds like an odd request.  But I want to look through a Ukrainian Village Chicago neighborhood guide.  I live near that particular neighborhood and am constantly passing by this huge domed church.  It looks like something out of Eastern Europe or even from down in Constantinople.  I’ve had the time to just jump out of my car and look for its name, but I’m sure it must have some type of historical significance.  It certainly doesn’t look like a new church.  I know that a lot of older Catholic churches were built in a “cruci-form” structure.  Or, in other words, they were built in the shape of a cross.  Newer church buildings look more like postmodern architecture  and sometimes don’t even resemble a church other than cross hanging somewhere off the top and the sign in the front of the building saying its Saint Whomever of whatever and that mass is every Sunday.  This church is old and it even looks dusty from the outside.  I’m betting it’s older than the neighborhood.  Now I’m obsessing over this thing and I’m not even religious.  I just want to know what the deal is with this church.
