How to Become a Leader

You can be a leader even if you are not officially appointed or serve as a director. A true leader is determined by his character and actions, not by his position. In order to become the best leader, try to improve your skills, balance authority and compassion, and be able to prove to the team that you are a trustworthy leader. Be a confident person even though there are things you don’t know yet. Try to maintain good posture, make eye contact when communicating, and use body language when you want to emphasize what is important. Show confidence and rely on the ability to lead the team to achieve common goals. If you can’t answer the question, say it honestly without appearing nervous.

Imagine the impression captured by a team member if you say, “I don’t know” while looking down and appearing nervous. Now, compare this with the impression that arises when you say, “I don’t know the answer, but I will look for information about this and answer your question” while standing straight and making eye contact with the person asking the question. Ignorance does not mean weakness. Leaders who are not confident and do not want to admit mistakes are not good leaders.

Remember that self-confidence and arrogance are two very different things. Acknowledge honestly if you don’t know and never feel better than other people.

Try to expand your knowledge in your field. Whatever your position, sales team manager or principal, take advantage of every opportunity to increase knowledge. A good understanding of the subject being discussed makes you more confident and more trusted by team members. Being someone who knows everything is impossible, but they will doubt your ability if you always get an “I don’t know” answer to every question they ask. Things will get worse if you don’t know the right answer, but try to answer by giving the wrong information. This makes the team members do not trust you.
