Geography

In West Africa lies the historic Southern Cameroons. It lies nestled in between Nigeria, the Atlantic Ocean and the Republic of Cameroun. On the eastern boundary of the country is the river Mungo. It may surprise some but the Southern Cameroons are actually split up into what they call administrative counties, much the split of the states is North America.

In the Southern Cameroons the relief of the land is designated by two major structures in the landscape. One of these is the Western Highlands. The Western Highlands are located in the northern part of the Southern Cameroons. The Western Highlands then gradually decline into the second major relief structure which is the Coastal Lowlands.

The Southern Cameroons is in no need of water features. It is surrounded by various large rivers in which the extra rainfall can drain into. There are actually two ports that are so large that if they are well harnessed they have the absolute potential to link the Southern Cameroons to the rest of the world through the waterways. These two seaports go by the names of Victoria and Tiko. There are also lakes that occupy the various volcanic craters around the land. Some are fairly substantial and do a great deed in holding drainage waters for times during the dry seasons.

The climate of the Southern Cameroons is that of a mostly tropical climate. This climate alternates between the rainy and dry seasons. The vegetation of the area actually sustains the wildlife there very well. In the north the lands are mostly grass fields and as they travel south of the equator the rainforest atmosphere takes over.

Although the geography for the Southern Cameroons may not be ideal for the most industrialized society there are various other ways to live on this land. The roaring hills of the landscape as well as the deep, vast rivers are ideal for those who know how to hunt and work with the different features on the land around them.
