Education
In the Southern Cameroons there are two basic forms of education. These forms are modeled after the traditional African education system and the other is of the European descent. Each of these is geared toward teaching the students trades that they will be in well into their futures. In the African education a student is taught first and foremost about the trade in which they will go into and generally work in for the rest of their lives. When participating in the traditional African education system a student is paired with a master in the trade that they will work in. This apprenticeship is arduous and each of the trainings are for different lengths of time.
The European education is geared more towards industrialization. The education given in this system is for those to run the framework that is needed to make the Southern Cameroons more industrialized as a whole. The area is rich in natural resources and exports but lacks the ability to run the businesses with a certain sense of profit. This system is to teach the students that are deemed capable the skills needed to run an industrialized industry.
A student looking to go to a secondary school must have completed a seven year program. Towards the end of this program an examination is given granting this student access to a secondary school. One other step that must be completed is a completion exam which will then give the student a diploma saying that they have completed the first seven years of schooling that was needed in order to continue on.
University education is becoming better in the area. Most often go off to other countries in order to receive proper education if they want something other than technical knowledge. In the area however there have been technical universities built to teach students the tricks of the trades in the Southern Cameroons.
Education is a staple in any country. Even if it is education through family members teaching and learning how to do everyday tasks in order to make the family function normally.
