Culture

Africa itself is one of the most diverse places in the world. In the Southern Cameroons there is such a great diversity of cultures merged together than anywhere else in Africa. The rituals come from a spiritual and religious European decent that are rich is historical value.

The Southern Cameroons were once a British territory. There were impacts from various different cultures such as the English and Germans. Later in time the French also added their influences to the mix. The political system that is still in tact today was actually derived from the English. Not only has the political system been structured after the English way but so has the education system as well as the infrastructure of the statehood.

The Southern Cameroons actually have at the very least about 50 different ethnic groups. The different ethnic groups living in the area can be identified by various different traits. Generally the most apparent is the dialect that they speak. In the 50 different ethnicities that are apparent about 10 have kept a dominant role in the cultural aspect of the area. This area is highly religious and spiritual. In fact there is one day out of the week that the people of the Southern Cameroons are not permitted to work because it is said that the Gods tour the land on that particular day. If one is caught working on that day the he or she may see something that they are not supposed to or have a curse put on them or their land.

There is rich history throughout the world. There are certain places that it comes together as one taking pieces from a few and merging them together to make a special and unique experience. Whether it is in Northern Africa or in the Southern Cameroons, each and every corner is unique in how they take various pieces of rituals and religions and make them their own.
