In a few years, every single Streeterville Chicago neighborhood guide is going to have to last the Chicago Spire.  Have you heard of it yet?  It’s going to be the tallest building in the city of Chicago, taller than even the Sears Tower.  It’s actually going to be the second tallest building the world.  Right now, the Taipei 101 is the world’s tallest building and stands in Taiwan.  Its 101 floors and has been the world’s tallest building since 2004.  In the gulf region, a building called the Burj Dubai is being built that will be the world’s next tallest building.  There’s a few other towers and structures that are really tall as well, but the Taipei 101 and Burj Dubai are or will be the tallest buildings in the world that are inhabited by actual people.  Second place isn’t going to be bad for the Chicago Spire.  It’s going to have this modern design where it twists around like a blade of grass.  Literally, it’s going to be a spire.  It’s the type of futuristic architecture that would have frightened people only 20 years ago because it looks so different from everything else that they’ve ever seen.  People are even going to be able to see it from out on the lake.
