Right now, I work in Chicago SEO or Internet marketing.  My brother, however, is an officer of the Chicago police department.  He’s always mocking me because I went to graduate school and he didn’t and he’s making 3 times what I do.  A Chicago police officer, when starting at the academy, begins with a salary exceeding 40,000 dollars a year and it only goes up from there.  For a single guy, that’s really good, especially if you have any idea how to make a budget and stick to it.  Once he applied to the force though, he waited two years to get called up and then tested.  He actually failed the physical and had to take it again.  Apparently, he had to work out until he could perform the appropriate number of sit-ups.  But that’s all in the past.  He’s been on the force for 3 years or so now and making around 50 to 60 thousand a year.  He owns a condo and a Mustang and never really worries about money.  For me, that’s the path of least resistance.  He took the easiest job he could get.  I don’t want to be a cop, though I could be one.  I just don’t want people to look at me differently because of me being one.
